location

Where will we dance? During the workshops, we will use the beautiful and spacious ballet hall of the THEATRE ARTS ACADEMY in Wrocław, located at 59 BRANIBORSKA street. The hall is equipped with bars, mirrors, ballet floor, and sound system. It has everything we need for ballet classes. The large and bright interior will provide comfort for all workshop participants. The hall is also air-conditioned. The location is very convenient for everyone coming from outside Wrocław, as it is close to the city center, and there are tram and bus stops on both sides of the building.

Accompanist

During the INTENSIVE BALLET WORKSHOPS in Wrocław, we will be practicing to the accompaniment of live music. Anyone who has had the opportunity to participate in such a class will surely appreciate it, and if you haven’t had the chance yet, you will be able to try it in July during our morning classes. Our accompanist will be Mr. Stanisław Gal, who regularly plays during classes at the Wrocław Opera and serves as an inspector and ballet répétiteur at the Wrocław Opera.

BalLet I

This is the beginner and intermediate level. All beginners who are already taking their first steps in classical dance technique are welcome to attend this workshop. If you want to consolidate and gain new knowledge, improve your technique, build strength and stamina then come to the Ballet I class . What will we do during these classes? We will be dancing! Familiarity with pole exercises will come in handy here, as we will start with them. After the pole exercises we will go out in the middle and try our hand at Adagio, pirouettes and jumping in the Allegro section of the class. All swans are warmly welcome. Those signing up for this group should have attended ballet classes for at least a year. In addition to exercises at the bar, the lesson will also include exercises in the middle. No pointe dancing skills are required.

Balet II

This is a group for intermediate to advanced students, which means a minimum of 3/4 years of regular ballet class attendance. A very good knowledge of bar exercises is recommended. You should also have mastery of centre exercises and small and large jumps.

Pointe I and Pointe II

Lessons will focus on technical skills. We will start with pole exercises in the pointe and focus on foot articulation, strengthening the foot and building awareness of stepping on and off the pointe. After the pole exercises, there will be a section devoted to exercises in the middle. Depending on the level of the Pointy I and Pointy II lessons, there will be a variation of levels. In Pointy II, the middle section will be longer and more dynamic, focusing on balance and more difficult technical elements. Pointy I will focus more on the preparation, positioning and strengthening of the feet for pointe dancing. The pole section will be longer than the middle section.

REPERTOIRE / VARIATIONS

We will be learning a selection of ballet variations, they may be danced on pointe, but if you don't have them yet, don't worry, ballerinas can do the job too. Level I and II If you are not sure if the group is for you then email us!

GRAHAM

Contemporary dance with elements of Martha Graham's technique The class I offer is a training of the dancing body using, among other things, elements of contemporary dance and the connections, splices, extensions, efforts and visualisations derived from Martha Graham's technique. Despite the workshop mode, together with the participants I will attempt to conclude the two-day training with a short composition of the developed elements with drama arising from the body work.

CONTEMPORARY

TRAIN LIKE DANCERS

OPEN GROUP/ CLASSES FOR EVERYONE
Who are these classes for? For everyone who wants to get to know their body and safely prepare for the challenges of training classical dance technique. How to take care of yourself, how to notice your strengths and weaknesses, how to deal with bad habits. You will learn all about this in Train Like Dancers classes. About the TLD programme: Train Like Dancers supports the development of professional dancers. It is a programme that starts with core motor skills in functional terms, i.e. stability, mobility, coordination. Only with this foundation in the body can we go further. The next stage is directed motoricity (speed, endurance, strength, power). Train Like Dancers is also a process in which exercises that build integrated movement patterns - of increasing difficulty - are performed in a deliberate and planned manner.
MISSION : to support the development of dancers to raise awareness of dancer training and taking care of the body to popularise motor preparation among dancers to raise awareness of the importance of supportive training.

4POINTE

The 4Pointe method focuses on 4 elements:
1. alignment of the foot and leg
2. strengthening of the muscles in the foot and leg
3. articulation of the foot and ankle
4. repetition of the exercises at different tempos and intensity

This systematic method requires daily repetition to make sure that the twenty-six bones, thirty joints and one hundred muscles of the foot develop properly.

Teaching Philosophy: The 4Pointe method is enhanced with a 4 part philosophy consisting of Creativity, Health, Respect, and Motivation From Shannon- teacher 4Pointe: „Teaching 4Pointe is something I am very passionate about. I believe that this method can help any dancer at any level. Having practiced it myself, I can attest to how quickly it can improve the quality of pointe work. I am excited to pass on my knowledge and help the dancers build strength and articulation through this amazing somatic method!”

Barre au sol (Floor Barre)

is a supporting technique and is particularly favoured by professional classical dancers. It consists of performing basic ballet exercises on the floor in a sitting or lying position. Specially prepared combinations of exercises allow you to strengthen and make more flexible individual parts of the body. During the classes special attention is paid to motor coordination, correct posture and muscle lengthening. Participants are introduced to the basic terminology of classical dance.

STRETCHING & CONDITIONING

OPEN GROUP/ CLASSES FOR EVERYONE
For a long time now, most dancers have known that it is the strengthening, the activation, the looking for the conscious pacing of movement that helps train the dancer's body. Building a balance in the muscles, whether between right and left or back and front, makes the body strong and the movement fluid. Therefore, a very important word in the name is CONDITIONING. A range of movement without being able to use it actively is not something our body / muscles will perceive as healthy and correct movement. Therefore, during our classes you will first of all get solidly tired, strengthen the muscles responsible for the active ranges, get to know your own body, and be able to use a greater amplitude of movement when dancing. Each exercise is explained in detail, we want you to feel what to work in your body, what to focus on, it is important to understand what is happening in your body. Strengthening the body, and working on mobilising and activating the pelvic muscles is and will be one of the most important elements. After strengthening and activating the muscles, we will focus on actively lengthening them, stretching them and looking for new and greater ranges. During the class we will use rollers, terabends, balls and ankles.
